Description: Board Member, Treasurer
The New York City Classical Guitar Society (NYCCGS) is seeking a Treasurer to join our dynamic Board of Directors. We are a passionate and professional group committed to advancing the classical guitar’s place in the music world, enriching NYC’s cultural landscape, and upholding the highest standards in the performing arts.
About NYCCGS:
NYCCGS fosters a vibrant community for guitar enthusiasts and musicians in New York City, supporting diverse programs and initiatives that elevate the classical guitar’s impact in the arts.
Role Overview:
The Treasurer will manage the organization’s finances, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility. This is a hands-on volunteer role that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while connecting with other passionate supporters of the arts.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records, including tracking donations, membership payments, ticket sales, and other income.
Manage accounts payable by processing and paying invoices, fees, and other known expenses in a timely manner.
Prepare and present financial reports to the board at meetings.
Collaborate with the Board to ensure best practices in financial management.
Assist with budgeting and long-term financial planning for society initiatives.
Attend board meetings and participate in NYCCGS events as needed.
Qualifications:
Financial management experience is preferred but not required.
Passion for classical guitar, music, and/or NYC’s performing arts scene.
Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work collaboratively with others.
Enthusiasm for the mission and values of NYCCGS.
Preference given to:
Candidates with knowledge of the New York City Classical Guitar Society
Candidates with knowledge of Intuit Quickbooks (Desktop or Online)
Candidates with experience with bookkeeping
Candidates with knowledge of IRS filing requirements for touring foreign artists
Candidates residing in New York City, secondary consideration to candidates in the Tri-State Area, and then regionally
Candidates with diverse backgrounds
